REEFS

Reefs are used to reduce sail area of a mainsail to prevent the boat from becoming overpowered.

1. Reef

Standard reef location for a single reef is 15% up the luff, reducing the sail area by 28%.

2. Reefs

For a mainsail with 2 reefs the first reef is located 11% up the luff reducing sail area by 21% and the second reef is located 24% up the luff, reducing the sail area by an additional 24%.
